Before leaving the house, many pet owners turn on the TV for their dogs. This raises the question: Who taught their dog English? Dogs don't understand human language. They don't even know their own names, as names are a human concept.
Anthropomorphism is a human tendency to attribute human qualities to non-human entities. This is why we see faces in rocks or believe our pets enjoy watching TV or wearing costumes. Stop dressing up your pets; they have fur, and you're just adding a hat to a hat.
Pet owners often speak to their animals as if they were human therapists. Humans take four to five years to grasp language and are significantly smarter than their furry counterparts. Yet, dogs often seem to agree with their owners' ideas, as if they were their own.
Dogs and other pets lack the cognitive ability to form opinions. They primarily care about when they will eat next, and they don't understand the concept of time.
Have you ever seen a dog react to a full-length mirror? It's proof of their lack of self-awareness. They think there's another dog imitating their movements. It's cute but also shows their limited intelligence.
What are your dog's favorite TV shows? I bet they have terrible taste. They probably love "Young Sheldon" or another mediocre CBS show.
It's fortunate that pets can't understand human language. Oh the stories they would/could tell!
